TSMC Reports Record August Revenue Fueled by AI Chip Demand
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) announced a record-high monthly revenue for August, driven by robust demand for artificial intelligence chips. The world's largest contract chipmaker reported revenue of NT$514.8 billion (approximately $16.35 billion) for the month, marking a 53.3% increase compared to August of the previous year and a 10.1% rise from July. This achievement represents the fourth consecutive month of sequential revenue growth for the Taiwanese technology giant. TSMC's cumulative revenue for the first eight months of 2026 reached NT$3.38 trillion, a 39.3% increase year-over-year. The company's advanced manufacturing nodes, including its 5nm, 4nm, and 3nm processes, operated at full capacity throughout the second quarter, according to industry analysis. This high utilization is largely attributed to strong customer demand for AI server processors. Looking ahead, TSMC has outlined plans to adopt ASML's High-NA technology for large-scale, high-volume production of advanced semiconductor nodes, with deployment expected to begin in 2030.
