Trump dismisses AI dangers as hoax, rejects regulation calls

Trump's stance comes amid heightened anxiety within the AI industry itself. Last week, a prominent safety researcher resigned from Anthropic, claiming both it and rival OpenAI were acting irresponsibly and "gambling with our lives." Anthropic's CEO subsequently acknowledged many of those concerns and urged peers to begin limiting software capabilities. The warnings triggered a sell-off in AI-related stocks and prompted politicians to face questions about their positions. The president's position appears to be at odds with public opinion.
