Trump Criticizes Fox News Over Senate Candidate Interviews

Published 7 October 2026

President Donald Trump criticized Fox News in posts on Truth Social on Tuesday, October 6, accusing the network of giving too much attention to Democratic and independent Senate candidates while not showing enough of his rallies or supporting Republican candidates. He singled out Democratic Michigan Senate candidate Abdul ElSayed and independent Nebraska candidate Dan Osborn, who is challenging Republican Sen. Pete Ricketts. Trump called Fox anchor Martha MacCallum’s interview with ElSayed a “softball” interview and said she did not interview him in the same way. He also accused Fox of promoting Democrats rather than Republicans and supporters of his political movement. The claims about the network’s coverage and interview treatment were Trump’s assessments; the available information does not establish how airtime was divided or whether the interview was unusually favorable. In a subsequent post, Trump questioned why Fox was conducting a long-form interview with Osborn, whom he described as running against Ricketts. Trump said the network’s programming gave his opponents positive exposure while failing to show his rallies the morning after they took place.
