Poll puts Trump approval at 32% ahead of midterms
President Donald Trump’s approval rating stood at 32% in a Reuters/Ipsos poll, unchanged from September’s career low, while the survey also found Democrats leading Republicans among registered voters asked which party they planned to support for Congress. The findings come less than a month before the November 3 midterm elections, which will determine control of the House and Senate for the final two years of Trump’s current term. The poll found Democrats ahead 44% to 37% among registered voters. The margin was wider among independents, with Democrats leading 37% to 21%; 28% of independents were undecided. The survey was conducted online across the United States over six days and included 4,506 adults. Among Hispanic Americans, 24% approved of Trump’s performance, the lowest level recorded for that group during either of his terms, according to the poll. On congressional voting intentions, 52% said they planned to vote for Democratic candidates and 26% for Republicans. The results point to weaker support among a group that backed Trump in greater numbers in 2024 than in 2020.
