Trump Calls Users of ‘Artificial Intelligence’ ‘The Enemy’

Published 8 October 2026

President Donald Trump said Thursday that the White House considers people who use “artificial intelligence” rather than his preferred term, “super intelligence,” to be “THE ENEMY,” but did not specify what consequences, if any, would follow. Trump made the statement in a post on Truth Social. The wording identifies people who use the conventional term as enemies, but the post does not announce a penalty, enforcement action or other specific measure against them. The remarks follow Trump’s push to replace “artificial intelligence” with “super intelligence.” He proposed the terminology during a speech to the United Nations General Assembly in September, according to reports on the speech. In late September, he signed an executive order requiring the preferred term in US government use. Reports say that requirement does not apply to private companies. Some technology figures and businesses have used the phrase, according to accounts of the issue. Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta and Elon Musk have been cited as adopters or users, though that does not establish that the broader technology industry has formally changed its terminology.
