Top General Confirms No Military Deployment to Polls in November

The highest-ranking officer in the U.S. military has assured a Democratic senator that there are no plans to deploy troops to polling places or seize election materials during the November 2026 midterm elections. In a letter released on August 31, 2026, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine provided written confirmation to Sen. Elissa Slotkin of Michigan, addressing growing concerns about potential federal interference in the upcoming vote. Caine stated unequivocally that the Joint Force has no plans to send federal military personnel or federalized members of the National Guard to polling places. He further clarified that there are no plans to use such personnel to seize ballots, voting machines, or other election-related material. "I have neither received nor anticipate receiving any unlawful order concerning the role of the Joint Force in the upcoming November 2026 midterm elections," Caine wrote. He emphasized that every member of the U.S. Armed Forces takes an oath to support and defend the Constitution and that the military will continue to act in accordance with the law.
