Three Men Charged in South Carolina Case Tied to 2018 Allegations

Published 14 October 2026

South Carolina authorities charged John Douglas Osborne, Patrick Bryant and Eric Bernard Bowman on October 14 in connection with an alleged 2018 sexual assault and voyeurism involving a woman who was incapacitated. The charges are allegations, not findings of guilt, and do not establish the broader claims made by U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace in a congressional speech last year. Osborne faces one count of first-degree assault and battery and two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. Bryant and Bowman were each charged with voyeurism. Bowman also faces charges of obstruction of justice and publishing the name of a victim of criminal sexual conduct, according to authorities. The charges stem from an alleged incident on October 26, 2018, at a home on Sullivan’s Island. According to statements by South Carolina Law Enforcement Division agents described in arrest-warrant reporting, the 23-year-old woman became incapacitated, and Osborne sexually assaulted her while Bryant and Bowman watched. Agents allege that a witness saw the incident on a home security video feed and preserved two images.
