Therapist Intern Arrested for Patient Sex

Published 5 September 2026

A therapist intern has been arrested and charged with having an unauthorized sexual relationship with a patient at a Homestead, Florida, addiction treatment facility. Michelle LuchauRebora, 32, surrendered to authorities on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, facing felony charges. According to arrest reports, LuchauRebora, who was working as a mental health intern at New Hope CORPS, allegedly engaged in a sexual relationship with a 42-year-old male patient from June 2025 to September 2025. The patient, who was a resident in the facility's inpatient program, told investigators that the encounters occurred not only during private therapy sessions but also offsite. Authorities allege that LuchauRebora facilitated the patient's departure from the restricted facility by creating alibis, allowing them to meet at her home in Pinecrest, her mother's home in Key Biscayne, and at Jackson Memorial Hospital. The patient reportedly stated that LuchauRebora warned him to keep their relationship secret, fearing it would end her career. The alleged affair came to light after LuchauRebora ended the relationship.
