Tesla Crashes Into Trader Joe's Kiosk in L.A., Killing One, Injuring Four

A Tesla sedan crashed into a security kiosk in a Trader Joe's parking lot in Los Angeles on Thursday, September 3, 2026, killing one person and injuring four others, including the driver. The incident occurred at approximately 12:01 p.m. in the 7900 block of West 3rd Street, in the Fairfax District, just across from The Original Farmers Market and The Grove shopping center. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and evaluated five individuals involved in the crash. One person, described by an LAFD captain as a woman possibly in her 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Four others were transported to local hospitals. Among the injured was the driver, identified by law enforcement sources as an elderly woman. Reports from officials at the scene indicated the driver was 91 years old, while other law enforcement sources described her as 80 years old. The driver was reported to have sustained non-life-threatening injuries and remained at the scene. The other injured individuals included a 19-year-old man who was in serious condition, and two women, ages 57 and 30, who suffered minor injuries.
