Swiatek reaches Wuhan quarterfinal with 150th WTA 1000 win

Published 15 October 2026

Iga Swiatek beat Ashlyn Krueger 6-1, 6-4 at the Wuhan Open on October 15 to reach the quarterfinals and record her 150th career match win at WTA 1000 events, according to the reported career tally. The victory followed a milestone win a day earlier that moved her past Serena Williams on the category’s all-time list. Swiatek defeated fellow Polish player Magdalena Frech 6-2, 6-1 on October 14 to advance to the round of 16. That was reported as her 149th WTA 1000 win, one more than Williams’ 148. The WTA 1000 format began in 2009. Against Krueger, Swiatek won the first set comfortably and faced more pressure in the second before closing out the match. Krueger entered the main draw as a lucky loser after losing in qualifying. The result put Swiatek into a Wuhan quarterfinal against Elina Svitolina. The two victories came as Swiatek seeks a place in the season-ending WTA Finals, where the top eight players in the qualifying race advance. In a standings snapshot dated October 14, she was 10th with 3,799 points, 111 behind ninth-placed Marta Kostyuk. The available standings do not give an updated total after the October 15 matches.
