Stephen Root Confirms Role in Grand Theft Auto 6

Actor Stephen Root has confirmed he voices the character Brian Heder in the upcoming video game Grand Theft Auto 6, marking the first official actor confirmation for the highly anticipated title. Root revealed his role during a red carpet interview with the Associated Press on September 13, 2026, while discussing his Emmy nomination for the Apple TV+ series Widows Bay. "Yeah, you're going to see me in that," Root told the reporter. "I think from the first rollout of GTA that they were doing maybe almost a year ago, they had my character in there, and there are too many people who knew me from King of the Hill and my voice. So, I think that secret kind of got divulged then." The veteran character actor, known for roles in King of the Hill, Office Space, and Barry, expressed his enthusiasm for the project.
