Stamos Says Mike Love Faces Serious Health Challenges

John Stamos said Mike Love is facing serious health challenges, but gave no details about the condition of the Beach Boys singer. Love appeared at the band’s Oct. 10 concert in Cincinnati, where he was escorted onto the stage, sat throughout the show and contributed some backing vocals, according to concert accounts. Stamos shared the health update on Instagram on Oct. 11, ahead of a scheduled Beach Boys performance at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. He wrote that doctors, family and friends had urged Love to focus on his health, but that Love insisted on performing. Stamos, who has performed with the band as a guest, described Love as a longtime friend and mentor and said he hoped they could share the stage that night. The Cincinnati concert at PNC Pavilion was the band’s first public show in three months. Stamos helped Love onto the stage, and Love remained seated for the performance. Other musicians, including Love’s son Christian Love and guitarist Brian Eichenberger, handled lead vocals, while Mike Love joined in on some backing vocals. The concert accounts did not describe him leading songs.
