Spotify launches toggle to exclude kids music from recommendations
Spotify has launched a new global feature allowing users to exclude children's and family music from their personal taste profile, a move designed to prevent kids' listening habits from skewing algorithmic recommendations and year-end summaries like Spotify Wrapped. The setting, which began rolling out on September 15, 2026, is available to both Free and Premium users. It is located in the app under Settings and privacy, then Content and display, and is labeled "Include kids and family music in taste profile." When toggled off, streams of music classified as kids or family content will no longer influence a user's personalized playlists such as Discover Weekly and Daily Mix, nor will they count toward Wrapped. Spotify states the feature works retroactively, meaning it will remove the influence of previously streamed children's music from a user's taste profile. The company advises it may take up to 48 hours for changes to be fully reflected in recommendations after the setting is activated. Even with the toggle enabled, users can still search for, listen to, and create playlists with kids and family music; the streams simply will not affect their personal recommendations.
