SpaceX Falls 4% Before 328 Million Shares Become Eligible

Published 23 September 2026

SpaceX shares fell 4% to $148.13 on September 23 as investors weighed the potential for additional shares to enter the market, along with questions about the company’s valuation. About 328 million shares are scheduled to become eligible for sale on September 24, but the unlock does not require shareholders to sell. The potential supply increase comes as SpaceX trades publicly following its June initial public offering. Eligible shares could be sold by early investors, employees or other shareholders, though the reports do not establish how many will be offered. The prospect of sales has drawn attention to whether the market can absorb any added supply; actual post-unlock sales are not yet known. SpaceX’s stock also showed different price moves at different points in Wednesday’s session. One report placed it near $153.35 in premarket trading, down about 0.9%, while another recorded a 4% decline to $148.13 later in the day. Those observations reflect separate trading times and do not establish a single closing price.
