Sony Adds Free Live TV to PlayStation 5

Sony Interactive Entertainment launched a free, ad-supported live television service directly within the PlayStation 5 console's media menu for users in the United States on August 31, 2026. The new offering, called Live TV on PS5, provides access to more than 100 linear channels without requiring a PlayStation Plus subscription or additional streaming app downloads. The service operates on a FAST model, delivering live broadcasts across a wide range of genres. Content includes news from outlets such as NBC News Now, ABC News Live, and LiveNOW from FOX, as well as weather coverage from Fox Weather. Sports programming features channels from FOX Sports, NBC Sports Now, NASCAR, the UFC, and the NFL Network. Entertainment options span movies, television series, and anime, with dedicated channels for titles like The Walking Dead, Community, Hell's Kitchen, and Forensic Files. Anime fans can access channels from Crunchyroll, featuring series such as Naruto, Death Note, and Hunter x Hunter. The lineup also includes creator-led content from platforms like Hot Ones and Spotify's The Ringer, alongside gaming and esports coverage through eCLUTCH.
