Solana Sets Record With 5.2 Billion Non-Vote Transactions in August

The Solana blockchain network set a new all-time high in August, processing more than 5.2 billion non-vote transactions, a 19% increase over the previous record set in July. The milestone, announced by Solana on September 1, 2026, underscores a sustained surge in user and application activity on the network, driven by a major technical upgrade and growing adoption in decentralized finance and tokenized assets. The record-breaking figure was confirmed by data from analytics firm Blockworks. Non-vote transactions, which exclude validator consensus messages, are considered a key metric for measuring real network usage, as they represent user-initiated actions such as token transfers, smart contract interactions, and decentralized exchange trades. The August total surpassed July's record of 4.2 billion transactions, which itself was a 91% increase from December 2025. A primary catalyst for the surge was the activation of the SIMD0286 upgrade on July 29. This technical proposal increased the maximum compute limit per block from 60 million to 100 million units, a 66% boost, without extending block production times.
