Smith Sets Ohio State Records in Win Over Iowa

Published 4 October 2026

Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith caught 11 passes for 206 yards and two touchdowns in the Buckeyes’ 31-14 win over Iowa, setting reported school career records for receptions and receiving touchdowns while adding to his Heisman Trophy campaign. The touchdowns brought Smith’s career receiving total to 36, surpassing the previous Ohio State mark of 35, according to reports. One account also said he finished with 207 career receptions, passing Emeka Egbuka’s school record of 205. Smith entered the game with 196 receptions, the same report said. Ohio State’s career receiving-yards record had already been attributed to Smith earlier this season; he was reported to have 3,381 yards after the Iowa game. Smith’s two scores came on a 12-yard catch before halftime and a 57-yard touchdown in the third quarter, according to one account. His performance drew attention to the records he has reached during his junior season and his pursuit of further milestones. The 36 career receiving touchdowns also put Smith three short of the Big Ten record of 39, held by former Michigan receiver Braylon Edwards, according to a report citing ESPN Insights.
