Silent Hill Townfall Earns Strong Early Reviews

Published 22 September 2026

Silent Hill Townfall, the first full-length Silent Hill game built entirely around a first-person perspective, has drawn strong early reviews ahead of its September 24, 2026 launch on PlayStation 5 and PC. Developed by Screen Burn Interactive and copublished by Konami and Annapurna Interactive, the survival horror title held an 81 on Metacritic and an 82 on OpenCritic based on early critic scores as of September 21 and 22, 2026. Those figures trail the 86 that predecessor Silent Hill f scored on Metacritic. A Digital Deluxe Edition offers 48-hour early access, meaning some players may already have begun before the standard release. Townfall is set in 1996 in the fictional Scottish town of St. Amelia, where protagonist Simon Ordell awakes with amnesia. The game replaces the series' traditional radio with the CRTV, a pocket-sized analog television used to detect enemies, solve puzzles, and receive narrative information. Reviewers broadly praised the device and the setting, with critics highlighting the detailed depiction of the town's streets, signage, and fog-shrouded seafront. The first-person shift, presented in a cinematic 2.
