Bungie Reverses Course, Will Restore Vaulted Destiny 2 Content

Bungie has reversed its decision to end support for Destiny 2, announcing plans to restore previously vaulted content and reaffirming the franchise's future. The announcement, delivered in a video on September 17, 2026, by studio head Poria Torkan and Marathon general manager Josh Deane, came in response to significant fan outcry following an earlier statement that the game would receive no major DLC updates. The studio confirmed it will work to bring back campaigns, raids, and destinations that were removed from the game over the years. "We understand that removing these experiences had a lasting impact on player trust and enjoyment of Destiny," the company stated. "We cannot change the decision we made, but we can acknowledge its impact and do the work to make it right by restoring these important parts of Destiny's history." Bungie acknowledged that the restoration process will require substantial technical work.
