Sharaf stuns Steveson in 12 seconds at UFC 331

Sean Sharaf knocked out Gable Steveson just 12 seconds into their heavyweight bout at UFC 331 on Sept. 19 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, handing the Olympic wrestler the first loss of his professional mixed martial arts career. Steveson, 26, entered the contest as a heavy betting favorite and had won four straight MMA fights, including a July debut in which he stopped Elisha Ellison. Sharaf, by contrast, arrived on a two-fight losing skid. The result ranked among the bigger upsets in recent UFC history. The California State Athletic Commission released its medical suspensions from the card on Monday, Sept. 21. Steveson received a 45-day suspension, 30 days of no contact due to the knockout, and a seven-day mandatory suspension. He is free to return to training once the suspension period ends, which would still allow him to compete again this year, though the nature of the defeat could delay a comeback.
