Shane Lowry wins Irish Open by record 11 shots

Shane Lowry secured a dominant victory at the 2026 Amgen Irish Open, winning by a record 11 shots to claim his second title at the tournament. The 39-year-old Irish golfer finished at 23 under par after a final-round 63 at the Trump International Golf Links and Hotel in Doonbeg, capping a week that included a course-record 62 on Friday. Lowry began the final day with a four-shot lead and extended it with eight birdies, never allowing the chasing pack to threaten his position. His putter proved decisive, with memorable long-range efforts from 45 feet at the seventh and 15th holes. The victory ended a four-year drought for an individual tournament title, his previous win coming at the 2022 BMW PGA Championship. The win is Lowry's second Irish Open title, 17 years after his first in 2009 when he was still an amateur. As an amateur, he was ineligible for the prize money, but this time he collected the Waterford Crystal trophy and a $1 million cheque. "To come here this week and do this, like come on! I just don't do things by half measures," Lowry said after his round. The tournament was attended by Taoiseach Micheál Martin and U.S. President Donald Trump.
