Saudi Pipeline Hit by Drones From Iraq, Forcing Shutdown

Saudi Arabia's East-West oil pipeline was struck by several drones launched from Iraq on Thursday morning, causing damage, injuries, and a precautionary shutdown of the critical route that bypasses the Strait of Hormuz. The Saudi Foreign Ministry condemned the attack, which targeted the pipeline in the Riyadh and Medina regions, and announced that Riyadh would not retaliate immediately at the request of the Iraqi Prime Minister. The ministry stated that Saudi Arabia has chosen not to respond at this stage to support Baghdad's efforts to prevent future attacks launched from Iraqi territory. However, Riyadh warned it reserves the right to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, security, and facilities. An Energy Ministry official confirmed the pipeline was stopped as a precaution following the incidents. Iraq condemned the attack and stated its territory will not be used as a launching pad for aggression. Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi ordered an investigation into those responsible. The Iraqi Armed Forces spokesperson said Iraq will not tolerate any activity that jeopardizes its relations with neighboring countries.
