Sadhguru Proposes Five-Nation Himalayan Board for Disaster Response

Spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev has proposed the creation of a five-nation Himalayan Board to coordinate disaster response and ecological protection across the mountain range, following devastating flash floods along the Nepal-Tibet border. Speaking at an "In Solidarity With Nepal" event in Lalitpur on August 30, 2026, Sadhguru also pledged Rs 1 crore to Nepal's Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund. The proposal comes as Nepal continues to grapple with the aftermath of the August 26 floods, which were triggered by a massive glacial collapse near Lhende Khola, approximately 20 kilometers northeast of the Rasuwagadhi border point. The collapse sent ice, mud, and debris into the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli river systems, devastating settlements and infrastructure on both sides of the border. According to Nepal's National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, the death toll from the floods has risen to 903, while 4,247 people remain missing. Sadhguru argued that the Himalayan ecosystem, which extends across India, China, Pakistan, Nepal, and Bhutan, requires a collective approach that transcends political boundaries.
