Russia Detains Swede Accused of Plotting Attacks
Russia’s Federal Security Service says it detained a Swedish man in the Pskov region and accused him of entering the country to plan attacks on military facilities. The agency alleges he crossed the border illegally and intended to carry out sabotage and terrorist acts while posing as someone seeking to join the Russian armed forces. The FSB said the detention took place in the Sebezh area, near Russia’s borders with Latvia and Belarus. It described the man as having served in Ukraine’s Aidar battalion from February to June 2026, allegedly as a commander of a drone unit. The agency said he was accused of participating in combat against Russian forces and of planning attacks on military sites. The FSB has not publicly named the detainee. In footage attributed to the agency, a man identifying himself as Freddy Lindholm said he had joined Aidar and trained to use drones. Other reporting of the footage gave his full name as Freddy Michael Stålkrantz Lindholm. His identity and the allegations have not been independently verified, and the supplied accounts do not establish the circumstances in which the purported statement was made.
