Russia and Ukraine trade deadly strikes before UN talks

Russian missile and drone strikes across Ukraine killed at least four people overnight, officials said Tuesday, while Ukrainian forces struck an oil refinery in Russia's Samara region, as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy prepared to meet President Donald Trump at the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The strikes killed four people in the central Ukrainian city of Dnipro, Oleksandr Hanzha, head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration, said on social media, adding that victims were found under the rubble and search and rescue operations were under way. One report from the same official gave a toll of three dead and six wounded in Dnipro. Across Ukrainian regions, the attacks damaged homes, businesses and storage facilities, wounding at least five people, authorities said, including five in Kyiv. In the southern Mykolaiv region, a Russian long-range drone killed a three-year-old child, local authorities said. An attack on a power facility in the northern Chernihiv region left nearly 100,000 consumers without electricity, according to Ukrainian officials.
