Rockstar Faces Tribunal Over GTA VI Developer Dismissals

Rockstar Games is set to appear before an employment tribunal in Glasgow this week as a final hearing begins into claims it unlawfully dismissed 31 workers involved in the development of Grand Theft Auto VI. The Independent Workers Union of Great Britain (IWGB) alleges that staff were targeted for their union activity and denied a fair disciplinary process, practices described as union-busting and blacklisting. Rockstar Games disputes these claims, stating the dismissals were related to alleged breaches of confidentiality agreements. The hearing, scheduled to run from September 10 until October 16, 2026, comes weeks before the planned release of Grand Theft Auto VI on November 19. The IWGB claims the workers were dismissed in October 2025 because of their involvement in union organizing and that Rockstar compiled and used lists of union members to discriminate against them. The union also alleges that employees were not provided with basic procedural safeguards, including a disciplinary process and the right of appeal.
