Rob Reiner posthumously wins Emmy for The Bear

Rob Reiner has received a posthumous Emmy Award for his guest performance in the FX series "The Bear." The Television Academy announced the win for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series on Sunday, September 6, 2026, during the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremonies held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Reiner, who died in December 2025, was honored for his role as Albert Schnurr, a business consultant who advised line cook Ebraheim Edwin Lee Gibson on his sandwich operation. Presenter Wendi McLendon-Covey accepted the Emmy on Reiner's behalf, to a standing ovation from the audience. The award marks Reiner's third Emmy win. He previously received Emmys in 1974 and 1978 for his role as Michael Stivic in "All in the Family." This latest recognition for his work on "The Bear" sets a record for the longest span between acting Emmy wins, with 48 years separating this award from his last. Reiner's performance in "The Bear" was one of his final screen appearances, featured in a three-episode arc in the show's fourth season. The series finale paid tribute to Reiner with Gibson's character referencing a line from his 1987 film "The Princess Bride.
