Riyadh Airport Attack Kills 12, Injures 309

Published 11 October 2026

An attack at Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport killed 12 people and injured 309 on Saturday, according to Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation. The strike prompted authorities to suspend airport operations while they assessed damage and the safety of the facilities. The aviation authority said the dead included four Saudi citizens and eight foreign nationals. The injured were taken to hospitals, and some were in critical condition. The reported toll comes from the authority’s figures; the reports provide no independent casualty count. Saudi-led coalition officials blamed Yemen’s Houthi movement for the attack, described it as a war crime and vowed a response. Responsibility has not been independently established. Reports differed over whether the Houthis claimed responsibility for Saturday’s strike: most said the group had not made an immediate claim, while one account said it had. The Houthis had claimed attacks on the airport earlier in the week. The airport suspension diverted flights and disrupted travel to Riyadh.
