Reform councillors leave party after undercover recordings

Published 15 October 2026

Reform UK councillor Alan Feeney has left the party after undercover recordings showed him making racist and violent remarks, while two other councillors also resigned following the investigation. Feeney said he would continue as an independent councillor, as did Chris Whelan and Dean Miller, whose comments were also recorded. The footage, reported as part of an investigation filmed over a year, showed Feeney, Solihull’s deputy mayor, advocating for Britain to be 99% white and describing Asian families as “parasites.” He also spoke about deporting Muslims by force and said he would not canvass at homes with Asian names. These remarks are reported from recordings; the supplied material does not include the footage itself. Feeney said on social media that he and Reform UK had mutually agreed he would leave the party for personal reasons. Whelan said he was resigning from the Reform group on personal and health grounds and would remain an independent councillor. He was recorded making sexually aggressive remarks about female candidates. Reform UK’s group leader in Solihull said the group regretted the outcome and thanked both councillors for their work.
