Red Bull extends Mekies deal through 2031
Red Bull says Laurent Mekies will remain its CEO and Formula 1 team principal through the 2031 season, extending his leadership of the team as it seeks continuity in the years ahead. The team announced the extension on October 14. Red Bull did not disclose further contract terms. Its statement said shareholders Mark Mateschitz and Chalerm Yoovidhya made the announcement during a team debrief in Milton Keynes following victories in Malaysia and Singapore. Mekies said he was proud to continue with Red Bull and thanked the shareholders, company leadership and team for their trust. The shareholders said the extension reflected their confidence in his leadership and their belief in the team’s long-term vision. Those assessments were made by Red Bull representatives as part of the announcement. Mekies became Red Bull team principal in July 2025 after leading its sister team, Racing Bulls. He was also named CEO. His new deal follows contract renewals for drivers Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar, according to the team’s announcement. The announcement comes after Verstappen won the Malaysian and Singapore Grands Prix.
