Rams Reportedly Replace Mevis With Grupe at Kicker

Published 13 October 2026

The Los Angeles Rams are releasing kicker Harrison Mevis and signing Blake Grupe from the New York Jets practice squad, according to a report attributed to NFL Network reporters Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo. The reported roster change follows the Rams’ 37-34 overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills on Monday, in which Mevis missed a field goal and had another attempt blocked. Mevis sent a 50-yard kick wide left in the first quarter. In overtime, after Los Angeles had an opportunity to win, Bills defensive lineman Gregory Rousseau blocked Mevis’ 48-yard attempt. Buffalo went on to win with a field goal. Rams coach Sean McVay criticized the kicking game after the loss, saying it was not good enough and had cost the team the game. The move was reported Tuesday, October 13. The supplied reports attribute it to Rapoport and Mike Garafolo; they do not include a Rams announcement confirming the transaction. Grupe is reported to be joining Los Angeles after spending time on the Jets’ practice squad. The reports do not establish whether he will be ready to handle kicking duties in the Rams’ next game.
