Primark Plans Home Delivery Service in Great Britain
Primark is set to introduce a home delivery service in Great Britain, its parent company Associated British Foods (ABF) announced. To support this expansion into online sales, ABF has acquired a highly automated warehouse in Sheffield for approximately £90 million. The exact launch date for the home delivery service has not yet been specified, but ABF confirmed it will be offered in the future across England, Scotland, and Wales. The acquisition of the Sheffield facility marks a significant step in Primark's strategy to bolster its digital capabilities, building on the success of its existing click-and-collect offering. The company has also recently implemented price cuts on hundreds of fashion items, which it reported has led to positive sales momentum, particularly in nightwear, leisure, and fitness ranges. ABF, which also operates substantial food, sugar, and agriculture businesses, is preparing to separate Primark from its food operations and list it as a standalone entity on the FTSE 100 by the end of 2027. In a trading update, ABF projected that Primark's annual like-for-like sales would fall by 2.6% for the financial year ending Saturday, compared to the previous year.
