Petit suggests Osimhen as alternative to Alvarez for Arsenal

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has identified Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as a powerful alternative for his old club should their pursuit of Julian Alvarez fail before the transfer window closes on September 1. Petit’s comments come as Arsenal, the reigning Premier League champions, seek to bolster their attacking options ahead of a campaign that will see them compete on multiple fronts. Arsenal have made Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez their primary target to strengthen the forward line. The Argentina international, who has also been linked with Barcelona, is reportedly valued at around £111 million. Petit praised Alvarez’s intelligence, movement, and technical ability, stating he would be a perfect fit for the club’s system. However, with the deadline imminent and competition for Alvarez’s signature, Petit suggested Osimhen, currently with Galatasaray, as a viable Plan B.
