Overnight strikes kill eight in Kyiv and Kharkiv

Russian overnight strikes killed two people and injured eight in Kyiv, Ukrainian officials said, damaging a maternity hospital and other civilian infrastructure. Separate attacks in Kharkiv region killed six people and injured 12, according to regional authorities, bringing the reported toll in those two areas to eight dead and 20 injured. President Volodymyr Zelensky said the Kyiv attack involved strikes on the capital and civilian infrastructure. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said one person was killed in a parking area near the maternity hospital. Officials reported damage to parts of the hospital, including its facade, windows and doors, and said no patients or medical staff were injured. The attacks also damaged homes, a post office, warehouses and vehicles, police said. In Kharkiv region, prosecutors said a strike on an agricultural site killed six people and injured 12. Ukrainian officials also reported damage from strikes in other regions.
