Trump and Zelenskyy Discuss Possible Ukraine Deal at UN

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with U.S. President Donald Trump at the United Nations in New York on Tuesday, September 22, as Russian and Ukrainian attacks continued. Zelenskyy said he hoped Trump would help end the war, while Trump said he thought the two sides would make a deal. Neither leader announced an agreement or concrete terms. The meeting came hours after Russian missiles and drones struck at least four Ukrainian regions. Ukrainian officials reported five deaths: four in the central city of Dnipro and one in the northern Sumy region. Authorities also reported damage to homes, businesses and storage facilities, and at least five people wounded in the attacks across the country. Zelenskyy told reporters that Ukrainian forces had struck two Russian oil refineries, one in the Samara region and another in neighboring Bashkortostan. Samara Gov. Vyacheslav Fedorishchev reported one person killed and four wounded in the attack there, but did not identify the facility targeted. Russia’s Defense Ministry said its forces had downed 297 Ukrainian drones over 14 Russian regions and Crimea overnight.
