Ohio State Defeats Maryland 45-16

Ohio State defeated Maryland 45-16 on October 10 at Ohio Stadium, using a strong offensive performance and limiting the Terrapins to 146 yards in a game account that reported 449 yards for the Buckeyes. Quarterback Julian Sayin threw for 242 yards and four touchdowns, while wide receiver Jeremiah Smith caught four passes for 93 yards and two touchdowns. Ohio State led 31-10 at halftime after scoring on five of its first seven possessions. Smith scored on receptions of 33 and 40 yards, and Sayin also connected with tight end Nate Roberts for a 68-yard touchdown. Maryland’s Daniel Wingate returned a Sayin interception 52 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter. Ohio State answered with a 25-yard rushing touchdown by Bo Jackson, who scored again in the fourth quarter. The game account also said Maryland managed 10 first downs. Smith entered the matchup with 44 receptions, 823 yards and nine touchdowns through five games, according to pregame reports. His two scores against Maryland added to that production. He is among the leading prospects discussed for the 2027 NFL draft: ESPN analyst Mel Kiper projected him as the No. 1 overall pick in his latest mock draft.
