Nvidia Adds $150 Billion to Its Buyback Authorization
Nvidia said its board has authorized an additional $150 billion for share repurchases, bringing the company’s remaining buyback authorization to $235 billion. The company expects to use that capacity through fiscal 2028, making the increase the largest reported addition to a corporate repurchase program. Nvidia did not provide a timetable or pace for the purchases. Chief Executive Jensen Huang said the company’s cash generation allows it to invest in technologies related to artificial intelligence and return capital to shareholders. He described the authorization as reflecting confidence in the long-term opportunity. The company’s announcement presents the buyback as part of its approach to balancing investment with shareholder returns, rather than as a commitment to spend the full amount immediately. Nvidia’s authorization surpasses Apple’s $110 billion buyback approval in 2024, which had been identified as the previous U.S. corporate record. The $235 billion figure is the remaining amount authorized, not a report that Nvidia has already repurchased shares for that sum.
