Nintendo Announces Two Directs Sept 8-9

Published 5 September 2026

Nintendo has announced it will host two separate Nintendo Direct presentations next week, with the first dedicated to celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda franchise and the second serving as a general showcase for upcoming games. The back-to-back broadcasts are scheduled for September 8 and September 9, 2026. The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct will air on Tuesday, September 8, at 10 a.m. ET. According to Nintendo's announcement, the presentation will last approximately 30 minutes and will deliver a variety of information related to the series' milestone. The event is widely expected to feature a substantial look at The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake for the Nintendo Switch 2, which was first announced in June and is slated for a 2026 release. Fans are anticipating gameplay footage and a potential release date announcement for the remake. The broadcast may also include news on the upcoming live-action The Legend of Zelda film, which is set for a 2027 theatrical release, and possibly other franchise-related celebrations. A second, more general Nintendo Direct will follow on Wednesday, September 9, also at 10 a.m. ET.
