Nehra Cites Travel, Wife's Approval for India Coaching Role

Ashish Nehra, the successful head coach of the Gujarat Titans, has indicated that he has no immediate ambition to take on the role of India's head coach, citing the significant travel commitments and personal sacrifices involved. Speaking at the Cricket Association of Bengal's annual awards ceremony in Kolkata on September 7, Nehra brought a touch of humor to the serious discussion, joking that he would first need to seek approval from his wife before considering such a demanding position. Nehra explained that international coaching requires being away from home for approximately eight to nine months annually, a schedule he described as "not easy." He pointed to the fact that few coaches have sustained such roles for more than three or four years due to the immense demands and constant travel. "First things first, I would have to check with the High Commission, which is my wife! Otherwise, I might get a divorce," Nehra said, as quoted by Outlook. He emphasized that while the opportunity to coach the national team would be a great honor and privilege, it is not something he has actively planned for or pursued with personal ambition.
