Minneapolis Shooting Kills 3, Injures 2 Officers

At least three people were killed and several others were injured, including two police officers, in a shooting at a downtown Minneapolis apartment building on Wednesday afternoon. The suspected shooter was also found dead at the scene, authorities said. The incident began around 4:30 p.m. local time on September 2, 2026, when Minneapolis police responded to a report of a disturbance at Loring Towers, a high-rise apartment complex at 15 East Grant Street. According to a report from WCCO, the disturbance involved a resident who had been evicted that day. Gunfire erupted as officers entered the building. Two Minneapolis police officers were shot. One was struck in the stomach and underwent surgery, while the other sustained a leg injury described as non-life-threatening. Both officers were reported to be in stable condition at Hennepin County Medical Center. Hospital officials confirmed that seven patients were transported to the facility with gunshot wounds. One of those patients died, and six others were injured.
