Mikayla Matthews Leaving Mormon Wives Over Moral Objections

Published 14 September 2026

Mikayla Matthews announced she is leaving the Hulu reality series "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" ahead of its sixth season, citing moral objections to the show's content. In an Instagram post on September 14, Matthews stated she made the decision after hearing unspecified news and is "not comfortable being a part of something that continues to platform behavior I dont agree with." She added that continuing to profit from such behavior feels "wrong and unethical" and is a disservice to the children involved. Matthews did not identify the specific news that prompted her departure, but her comments appear directed at costar Taylor Frankie Paul. The two have been involved in a public feud in recent months. Paul previously stated that Matthews could "find her way to the door" if she did not want to film with her. In her announcement, Matthews referenced her own experience with "multiple forms of abuse" and said she was breaking an "enabling cycle." The conflict follows a turbulent period for the show. Production on Season 5 was paused earlier this year after a domestic dispute involving Paul and her ex, Dakota Mortensen.
