Metaplanet Keeps Bitcoin at 85%-90% of Assets
Metaplanet has revised its capital allocation policy to keep about 85% to 90% of its assets in Bitcoin while permitting 10% to 15% for strategic investments, including assets intended to generate recurring income. The Tokyo-listed company said the income could support financing capacity, Bitcoin purchases and dividend or interest obligations. The policy, announced October 5, introduces a net interest income strategy under which Metaplanet plans to invest capital in income-producing assets. The company says it will pursue investments when expected yields, after credit risk, exceed its cost of capital by an appropriate margin. The assets to be acquired and the returns they may generate have not been specified in the reports. Metaplanet reported holding 44,000 BTC as of September 30, up from 30,823 BTC when it established its original allocation policy in October 2025. The company’s revised plan generally keeps Bitcoin-related borrowing below about 10% of the net asset value of its Bitcoin holdings. Financing for strategic investments is handled separately, according to the policy terms.
