Published 11 October 2026

Inter Miami defeated D.C. United 4-0 on Saturday, with Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez scoring twice each to end Miami’s five-match winless run in Major League Soccer. Germán Berterame assisted both of Suárez’s first-half goals. Suárez opened the scoring in the third minute and added another in the 39th, sending Miami into halftime with a 2-0 lead. Messi scored in the 47th minute and again in the 60th to complete the victory. The win lifted Inter Miami to second place in the Eastern Conference with 49 points, according to match reports. Miami had gone five league matches without a win, drawing four and losing one. The result was also the first league victory for coach Cristian Kily González, who took charge on September 16. Messi played the full 90 minutes, four days after his farewell appearance for Argentina ended his 21-year international career, according to match coverage. His two goals moved him to the top of the league scoring standings, though reports differed on whether his season total stood at 22 or 23. The match accounts agree on his two goals but do not resolve the tally. Inter Miami’s defensive performance also produced a clean sheet. D.C.
