Mastercard Launches Fiat and Stablecoin Business Platform
Mastercard announced the Global Money Platform on October 15, a service developed with BVNK that lets businesses manage fiat and stablecoin balances and connect them to payments, payouts and card spending. The platform is available through BVNK, though access to particular functions depends on the market, service and integration. Mastercard said businesses can hold and convert traditional currencies and stablecoins through the platform, then use balances for options including local bank payouts, transfers to external wallets or card purchases. These are alternative uses, not steps every payment must follow. The service combines BVNK’s stablecoin-processing and account capabilities with connections to Mastercard’s payment network. The platform is designed for banks, fintech companies and other businesses to incorporate into their own services or use for treasury and settlement. Mastercard named Nuvei, Marqeta, Ontop, Beem and Almond FinTech among the first integration partners. Their inclusion identifies intended integrations but does not establish that each partner has completed deployment or enabled every feature.
