Man dies after assault at Liverpool Street station

A 32-year-old man has died after being assaulted at London's Liverpool Street Underground station while returning from the Notting Hill Carnival. The victim, who was attacked on the Central Line platform on Sunday night, died in hospital on Tuesday, September 1. British Transport Police have announced they will amend the charge against the suspect following the man's death. The incident occurred at approximately 10:51 p.m. on August 30, when officers were called to reports of a serious assault at the station. Paramedics attended and found the victim with life-threatening head injuries. He was given emergency treatment at the scene before being taken to the hospital in a critical condition, where he remained until his death two days later. Jeremiah Maximo, 38, of Barking, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on the evening of Monday, August 31. He was initially charged with grievous bodily harm and remanded into custody. Following the victim's death, British Transport Police stated they would apply to amend the charge against Maximo, who was scheduled to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court.
