UAE hands Sajeer Palli Mooppan to Delhi Police

UAE authorities handed Sajeer Palli Mooppan to a Delhi Police escort team on November 4, returning him to India in connection with an alleged sexual assault case involving a 20-year-old woman. The 38-year-old is wanted by Delhi Police, and the allegations have not been established in court. Police say the woman reported that Mooppan assaulted her after a gathering in Delhi on October 1, 2025. According to her complaint, he made her consume alcohol and intoxicating substances, then took her to a hotel in Karol Bagh, where the assault allegedly occurred in the early hours of October 2. Police also allege he used another person’s identity documents when checking into the hotel. The woman first reported the matter to the jewellery company where Mooppan worked, according to police. The company issued him a show-cause notice and began an internal inquiry under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment framework on October 4, 2025. Police said he did not participate.
