Man charged after cheesesteak thrown at Pat’s manager
A man turned himself in to Philadelphia police and was charged with harassment after throwing a cheesesteak at the manager of Pat’s King of Steaks, police confirmed in a report published October 2. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on September 30 at the South Philadelphia restaurant. No injuries were reported. The man’s identity had not been publicly disclosed in the report, and the subsequent status of the case was not provided. Police responded after receiving an assault report. The charge followed the restaurant’s initial appeal for information to identify the customer. Restaurant accounts and surveillance footage described the customer returning to the service window after ordering a cheesesteak and complaining about the food. General manager Tom Francano said the customer called the sandwich poor quality. Francano said he asked other customers whether they were satisfied with their meals, and the customer then threw the cheesesteak at him and ran away. Footage was described as showing the confrontation and the customer recording during the visit. Francano and owner Frank Olivieri said he was not hurt.
