Published 2 October 2026

A man in his 30s died after a collision involving a bus and a pedestrian on Lower Glanmire Road in Cork city at about 6:30 a.m. on October 2, Gardaí said. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later pronounced dead, according to Garda accounts cited in reports of the incident. Emergency services attended the scene, and Garda forensic collision investigators conducted a technical examination. The coroner was notified. Gardaí have appealed for witnesses and for relevant camera footage as they investigate how the collision happened. The sequence of events and the circumstances leading to the collision have not been established in the available information. Gardaí asked anyone who was in the Lower Glanmire Road area between 6:20 and 6:35 a.m. and has information to contact investigating officers. They also sought footage from mobile phones, dashcams or other cameras. People with information can contact Mayfield Garda Station, the Garda Confidential Line or any Garda station. Traffic restrictions and diversions followed the collision. Reports from the area said the road was closed inbound and that delays affected motorists and commuters.
