Ledger Unveils Atom Security Device Amid Wallet Investigation

Published 15 October 2026

Ledger unveiled Atom, an Android-based security device that pairs everyday applications with a separate protected environment for managing digital assets, at its Op3n event in Paris on October 15. The launch comes as the company investigates tampered hardware wallets linked to reported cryptocurrency thefts. Ledger has not confirmed the total losses or number of affected users. The device is designed to let users switch between regular Android functions and a secure mode for wallet activity. Ledger says sensitive approvals take place in a separate secure operating environment, with the display and touch controls isolated from Android. The company also says Atom’s protective enclosure and tamper-detection sensors are intended to detect or block physical implants, including when the device is powered off. Ledger set the standard price at $899 and said shipments are expected in summer 2027. A Founders Edition priced at $849, with a refundable $100 reservation deposit, was also reported. The device is expected to include Solana Mobile’s Seeker app, providing access to its app store and wallet, as well as controls for approving transactions proposed by artificial intelligence agents.
