Kylie Kelce apologizes for misnaming Catherine

Published 2 October 2026

Kylie Kelce apologized on her October 1 podcast for referring to Catherine, Princess of Wales, as “Princess Kate” and “Duchess of Cambridge,” saying she had not known the wording was considered offensive and would be more careful. The apology followed an invitation Kelce made a week earlier for Catherine to appear on her show, Not Gonna Lie. On the September 24 episode, Kelce addressed Catherine as “Princess Kate, Duchess of Cambridge” while inviting her to talk about field hockey and family. Kelce said the two had some things in common, including having played field hockey. In her October 1 episode, she said she had been unaware that calling Catherine “Princess Kate” was offensive and apologized for the mistake. Kelce also said she wanted to refer to people in the way they considered respectful. She addressed Catherine as “Princess Catherine, or the Princess of Wales” and said she would correct her wording. The formal title is The Princess of Wales. Catherine became Princess of Wales in 2022, when William became Prince of Wales. Duchess of Cambridge was her title after her 2011 marriage to William, but it is no longer her current title.
